Bom Bom Island Resort is an ecological gem in the Gulf of Guinea, with pristine rainforest, crumbling historic plantations and golden, secluded beaches along untouched volcanic coastline. The island has all the warmth of Africa, bringing diverse African cultures and European colonial tradition together in a uniquely relaxed environment.

Facilities within the resort: 20 bungalows with en-suite bathroom, bar, restaurant and swimming pool.

There are few destinations that offer the character of Africa and a tropical environment, with virtually no risk of malaria or other tropical diseases. Principe also has few biting insects, spiders or snakes, as it formed tens of millions of years ago a great distance from the continental shore.

Nevertheless, Principe is unpolished, a rough gem.

It retains its authentic character with minimal modern construction or development; it is not a cultured pearl - it is instead something much rarer - truly undeveloped, unvarnished, unspoiled.

This is an island for the adventurous, not the pampered.

It is a destination for those who appreciate that poverty and beauty are both truths of Africa today, and who believe that environmental awareness and ecological sensitivity are as important for those beginning their development as those who enjoy the heights of human accomplishment.

Principe is the road less travelled, a prize for those willing to go a little further, work a little harder, stay a little longer, be a little less connected to the rest of the world and a lot more connected to themselves and nature.

Bom Bom is a tiny islet off the north coast of Principe, and provides the perfect base from which to discover this magical island. The small resort found there extends across two gentle beaches and nestles between lush rainforest-covered hills.

In Bom Bom you will find a haven, shelter, and a restaurant where you can enjoy magnificent views of Principe and the ocean.

On offer forest hikes for birdwatchers, canoe expeditions with local fisherman to experience an ancient fishing technique, quad bikes to roam Principe and air conditioned bungalows.

Your Island tours include a visit to the old Portuguese town of San Antonio, technically the smallest city in the world, and visits to working plantations of cocoa, coffee and vanilla, all of which are farmed underneath the forest canopy to support the long term rehabilitation of the rainforest.

Discover unique local birdlife, enjoy spectacular scenery, taste chocolate grown on the island, hike through diverse ecosystems. See whales on their ancient migration and spot turtles coming ashore to nest.

Wake up to the sight of fisherman on the horizon, in traditional log canoes made from ancient trees. Stand on the site of the expedition which proved Einstein's theory of relativity and marvel at the incongruity of it.
